How do you know that your CPD programme is having an impact on staff and student learning? This workshop explores CUREE's learning resources that generate formative and summative evidence for evaluating the impact of CPD and connecting staff and student learning. These tools model excellence in CPD whilst helping you build CPD capacity in your organisation and judge its impact.

This workshop will:

  • Allow you to plan and evaluate effective CPD programmes for teachers and trainers
  • Evaluate your options for ensuring staff development leads to improved student success
  • Help you plan to strengthen the links between CPD and student outcomes

This workshop is designed for:

  • Senior and middle leaders with a responsibility for CPD especially those interested in developing their organisation as a more effective professional learning environment
Evidence underpinning this approach

Our facilitators will:

  • Introduce learning in a way that is active, engaging and helps with the collection of evidence about staff learning to support the evaluation of impact
  • Provide tools to sustain learning and help staff refine strategies in the light of student responses
  • Make research and evidence assessible and useful, focusing on high leverage strategies
How users/participants can evaluate success

By the end of the workshop you will:

  • Be confident about using a range of tools and skills that both develop your CPD provision and help you monitor its effectiveness by:
    • Ensuring your CPD encompasses each of the elements proven to be key to benefit students
    • Connecting the professional learning of adults with their aspirations for student learning
    • Mobilising the power of collaborative adult learning as a tool for deep, rather than surface learning by using evidence from classrooms
    • Embedding Assessment for Learning processes into CPD activities
    • Using classroom observation more effectively for learning and not just monitoring

During the workshop delegates will be provided with materials they they will be shown how to use effectively in their institution
