It also looks at the governing body's role in determining the appraisal and pay policy, monitoring it's application and evaluating effectiveness.
Governors will have the opportunity to share knowledge gained from other sectors and discuss their experience of the process so far.

The course draws on NGA's expertise in governance policy and practice, and is delivered by consultants with a strong track-record in education and governance.

Following the session, governors should be equipped to successfully ensure that staff appraisal and performance management is carried out effectively at their school.
|Follow-up activities and support||
The NGA offers a range of support, advice, and training services which can be used to follow-up or complement this session.
The session is usually two hours long and delivered to the whole governing body at a time and place to suit. Prior to the session, the consultant will liaise with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher to ensure that the focus matches the school's current position in relation to this complex aspect of school management.
