|Description||Leading and managing a team of staff is key to being a successful head of department. An important part of this is the creation of a collaborative culture that values and supports colleagues, whilst involving them in the management of the department is vital for their own professional development. This course will discuss how to lead and manage people successfully and outline strategies for building the departmental team. It will also demonstrate how to delegate successfully to colleagues and support them well. Additionally, it will suggest ways of dealing with senior managers, non-specialist teachers, parents and difficult staff as well as illustrating how to avoid confrontation and manage conflict.|
