Learning outcomes for participants/users and, where relevant, pupils or students

Be familiar with recent research in creating mathematical environments in Early Years settings

Be inspired with practical ideas to take back to the classroom to develop mathematicals envrironments indoors, outdoors and at home through working with parents.

Evidence underpinning this approach

The new Early Learning Goal for Numbers raises the
bar considerably for young children and their teachers.
However, research has identified some key priorities for
creating mathematical confidence and future success,
building on young children’s aptitudes. One speaker's work in
inner city schools shows that creating a playful  early
years mathematical community can increase children’s
interest and achievement significantly.
How users/participants can evaluate success

Participants will be asked to complete an evaluation at the event followed by an impact tool 6 weeks after the event.

Follow-up activities and support

Participants will be invited to share their learning through SMaR+'s Facebook page and via the NCETM portal.
