COURSE LEADER

DR PETER BUCKROYD is one of the country’s leading teaching and learning experts in the field of Secondary English. Having been an examiner for nearly forty years, including Chief Examiner at A-level English/ Literature for over 20 years and Chief Examiner for GCSE English for 26 years, he has unparalleled experience. Most recently he has served as Chief Examiner of AQA GCSE English, Specification A. He is the author of numerous publications, including the Heinemann series for the new AQA GCSE English Language Specifications. Peter now focuses on delivering training for teachers and combines this with his role as a professor at The University of Washington. He is a regular contributor to Poetry Live © shows around the country. Peter is known and respected for his realistic, down-to-earth approach to teaching and learning.

  •  Teaching and learning to secure the A/A* grades
  •  Quick activities that can be used to reinforce and develop the key skills.
  • What exactly do students need to do to achieve A/A* grades?
  •  How mark schemes and AfL materials be used to help students internalise the standard required
  • How the student can signpost their C grade potential at key points in a response
  • Materials, opportunities and approaches that help potential A/A* grade students shine
