With a balance of curriculum and subject pedagogy and plenty of hands-on demonstrations and opportunities to explore the resources, this full day course help you get the most from your Wordsmith subscription. It will ensure you will gain an in-depth understanding of how to embed Wordsmith in your school, how to foster a love for reading in all your children and how to teach grammar creatively.

Who is it for?

It is for all staff in schools with subscriptions to Wordsmith, includingSchool Leaders, English, literacy and language coordinators andteachers. It is for schools subscribing to Wordsmith for the first time and will also be beneficial to schools transitioning from Literacy Evolve.

Learning outcomes

With hands-on demonstrations and plenty of opportunities for discussion, this course will give all of your staff the confidence and enthusiasm to make the most of your Wordsmith subscription.

The course will ensure all your staff:

  • understand the key changes to the new curriculum in England and have opportunities to explore best practice in planning your language curriculum
  • know how to use Wordsmith to help them to deliver the requirements of the new National Curriculum in England
  • can use Wordsmith confidently and competently to support their planning and teaching and ensure  pupil progression
  • know how to foster a love of reading and teach grammar creatively using the Wordsmith resources
  • can use Wordsmith to help children talk for learning and apply technical English skills in their day-to-day writing
  • have the opportunity to discuss and make decisions about how to implement and embed Wordsmith across your school

Good to know

  • Each half day course lasts three hours and can be arranged for any time of day, including after school.
  • To maximise learning outcomes, we recommend schools book the two half days as close together as possible.
