This refresher course offers a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in child protection and has been developed for school staff who have been trained in the past and want to either refresh or extend their skills and knowledge. It is suitable for any member of teaching or non-teaching staff including child protection officers. This course can also be delivered in-school and is an excellent way of fulfilling your statutory requirements.

Unfortunately, children with special needs are more prone to abuse and less able to communicate than their peers. For this reason, special school staff have a particularly difficult but important child protection role. This course will help you understand the legislation and theory surrounding child protection and help you adapt and apply this in practice in a special school setting.

The day will focus on felt-making, a non-woven textile method, looking at 2-D and 3-D techniques. The 2-D aspect examines designs with multi-coloured fibres that can be used to create painterly, drawn and decorative designs. These can be applied to wall hangings, garments and accessories. The 3-D aspect covers development in sculptural forms. Samples will be provided along with ideas for school/college work.
