It considers how the approach of the teacher can significantly influence the attitude of players to apprehension and address their reservations about the safety side of the game. By focusing on core skills and familiarisation activities, players and coaches increase confidence and create a game based on skill and evasion that can appeal to all shapes and sizes. There is emphasis on introducing contact and scrum safely, and refereeing it empathetically to allow rugby to break out.
