Description This one day course for all who teach 14-16 RE will enable teachers to add imaginative, innovative and exciting learning to the syllabus requirements for GCSE in ways that build up pupils' learning skills. A range of philosophy ethics and religion based topics, referring to Islam and Christianity, will be demonstrated. Delegates will receive eight ready-to-use classroom examples that showcase a range of learning methods suited to setting high standards in GCSE. The day will be practically focussed on the learning needs of GCSE RS pupils. Delegates who attend this course will receive clear guidance about interactive, well planned and thought provoking learning in the subject. A comprehensive set of ‘tools’ to make GCSE RS interesting and engaging, using media, arts, purposeful writing and thinking skills will be provided. An approach that enables all pupils to see their own ideas in relation to religious ideas will be modelled, and teachers will leave confident and inspired to improve their planning, task setting and modelling. The course will use examples from different religions, especially Christianity and Islam and will balance learning about religion with learning from religion - in line with the new GCSE criteria.
