Catch Up® Numeracy is suitable for all struggling learners whose Numeracy/Maths Age is significantly below their Chronological Age. Designed for use with struggling learners aged 6-14, rather than beginner learners. Struggling learners on Catch Up® Numeracy make twice the normal rate of progress.
|
Evidence underpinning this approach | Catch Up® Numeracy has been shown to help struggling learners achieve more than double the progress of typically developing learners (all the more impressive as struggling learners make far less progress than typically developing learners). Learners aged 6 - 11 who received Catch Up® Numeracy support for an average period of 5 months achieved average Number/Maths Age gains of 11 months (Data for 348 learners. Journal article awaiting publication - further information from Catch Up on request.) |
How users/participants can evaluate success | Trainees Trainees have the opportunity to submit for the OCN Catch Up® Numeracy qualification To gain the OCN Catch Up® Numeracy qualification, trainees have to submit written evidence to show that they have successfully completed the assignments for each of the three Units. The assignments for Units 1 and 3 are mostly completed as part of the training. The assignments for Unit 2 are based on the delivery of the Catch Up® Numeracy intervention to learners. Struggling Learners Each individual Catch Up® session gives you valuable information about the learner’s needs and progress. We also recommend that learners on Catch Up® Numeracy are further assessed:
