The course is suitable for Primary English Subject Leaders, teachers in First, Infant, Junior and Primary Schools, Senior Leadership team members. It explores the characteristics of high level readers and writers and examines how the more able writers and readers can be supported to make the appropriate progress. The course looks at good practice to move the most able readers and writers forward and explores how to develop higher order reading and writing skills. The course also helps participants to examine how they can develop critical thinking skills with the more able readers and writers.

Claire is an experienced primary literacy and numeracy consultant, a moderator and an experienced deputy head, Key Stage Leader and teacher. Claire has worked as a consultant for national strategies for two local authorities and is a current serving practitioner. Claire specialises in supporting teachers in English assessment, planning, and teaching. As party of tailored consultancy and training, Claire is able to provide demonstration lessons.
