|Description||This presentation and resource is a must for all primary and secondary food teachers, technicians and support staff. It sets the background to the national changes leading to food becoming compulsory throughout primary and secondary for the first in NC2014. Many teachers were prepared for compulsory food teaching in 2011 through the Licence to Cook programme, and whilst this was suspended during the government’s review, food will now be statutory for all pupils until the end of KS3 from next September. The government worked closely with the D&T Association to develop the new programme of study.|
|Learning outcomes for participants/users and, where relevant, pupils or students||
The presentation will explain the link with the school curriculum and government’s School Food Plan, and the heightened role that food teaching has in leading on the teaching of healthy eating and better food choices. And why D&T was chosen as the best place for teaching food.
