Description This course will introduce and develop the key skills used to develop writing in Reception/FS2 classrooms. It will support practitioners to develop a range of activities to impact upon oral and written composition, fine motor skills and the application of phonics in transcription. It will show how to use a quality text to develop reasons for writing within a topic. It will also provide ideas for promoting independent writing across all areas of continuous provision and how to develop the role of additional adults. Delegates will be provided with a free copy of the key children’s book used on the course, PowerPoint hand-out, a CD of resources, refreshments and a buffet lunch.

Learning outcomes for participants/users and, where relevant, pupils or students EYFS Practitioners will be able to develop a 'Writing Rich' Foundation Stage setting. They will know how to promote purposeful writing opportunities, how to support early writers and how to ensure children reach age-related expectations. They will understand how to support more able children in the EYFS who will be exceeding age-related expectations.
