Description This course will offer teaching assistants the opportunity and time needed to consider how primary aged children learn to be literate. The content of the day will develop from a close look at basic skills through to the use of more developed techniques and strategies that enable pupils to become confident readers and writers. Development of literacy subject knowledge will underpin the training and questioning techniques will be explored through the context of ‘next steps’ assessment. There will also be opportunities for discussion.
