Description The new curriculum for mathematics becomes statute in Year 2 and Year 6 from September 2015 and will be assessed for the first time in May 2016. Helping children meet the raised expectations is challenging. It is crucial that teachers have a firm grasp of the key learning to secure age-related expectations and an accurate view of where pupils currently are. Teachers need to make decisions about aspects of learning to prioritise and draw from a range of effective teaching strategies. This training will provide clarity and confidence to be successful in 2016. It will focus upon the key learning and help delegates map out the year ahead. As Herts for Learning team members have sat on the expert panel for the DfE’s new testing framework, attendees will develop a clear view of the demands of the new assessment regime and will be supported to help their pupils confidently respond to the challenges.
