Description In response to requests from Head teachers, this course will support teachers to ensure children are ‘Secondary Ready’ by the end of KS2. Teachers will be supported to develop the skills, understanding and strategies to ensure Secure Level 4 writers. Following the success of the ‘Wizards’ course and the impact that this unit has had on end of KS2 results, this new course will provide teachers in Year 6 with a new extended thematic unit to engage and motivate even reluctant writers. The course will include subject knowledge and pedagogies required to teach and improve specific aspects of writing, as identified through teacher assessment, in order for children to attain Secure Level 4. It will also support teachers in ensuring sufficient up to date evidence at Level 4 across a range of writing for end of KS2 statutory teacher assessment. Delegates will be provided with a PowerPoint hand-out, a CD of resources, refreshments and a buffet lunch.
