|Description||The purpose of the session is for the governing board and senior leadership team to start the process of developing a new vision for their school.|

The course will enable the governing body and senior leadership team to identify key priorities with measurable targets which can form the basis of their strategy for the next three to five years.
The session includes a presentation on the current context for governance and possible challenges the governing body may face, a SWOT exercise, an opportunity for input from senior leaders, along with group work on what constitutes the basis for the new vision.

The course draws on the NGA's expertise in governance policy and practice. It is delivered by consultants with extensive knowledge and experience in the fields of governance and education.
|How users/participants can evaluate success||
Following the session, governing bodies will have strong foundations for their new school vision and a clear focus on the strategic element of their role.
|Follow-up activities and support||
The NGA offers a range of support, advice, and training services which can be used to follow-up or complement this session.
This is a three hour session delivered to the governing body and senior leadership team at a time and place to suit. Prior to the session, the consultant will liaise by phone with both the Chair of Governors and the Headteacher to ensure that the session is bespoked to the school's circumstances.
