Description The purpose of this session is to inform governors about the options available to them when considering working with other schools and to discuss the benefits and challenges.

The session covers amalgamation, federation, multi-academy trusts, umbrella trusts, community interest companies, and co-operative trusts.

We cover both the legal implication and the practical issues of collaboration with partner schools. There is time for discussion about the pros and cons of each model, and for governors to develop their thinking about how they can benefit from working collaboratively.

NGA offers a range of support, advice, and training services which can be used to follow-up or complement this session. 


This session can be two to three hours long depending on the scope agreed with the consultant. It is particularly suitable for governors from more than one school or academy so that experiences and approaches can be shared.
