Description This course is designed for Foundation Stage practitioners working with 'Letters and Sounds'. You will explore the central importance of speaking, listening and language comprehension in providing a strong foundation for early reading and writing. The three key learning strands within Phase 1 will be explored, together with practical ideas for developing these aspects within your setting. Guidance on assessing children’s competence within Phase 1 will be shared and detailed subject knowledge for Phase 2 provided. The course will also explore practical strategies for delivering Phase 2 'Letters and Sounds', as well as ideas for supporting application of these skills within early reading and writing.
