Learn how to increase engagement and raise attainment in maths through using your school grounds as a context for learning.

During the training you will:

  • Take away ideas for delivering the mathematics curriculum outdoors, with minimal resource needed.
  • Increase your motivation by trying out a range of practical activities
  • Develop strategies for classroom management and group leadership outdoors.
  • Build confidence in using the outdoors as routine element of good teaching and learning.

The 2008 Ofsted report, Learning Outside the Classroom: How Far Should You Go? commented that “learning outside the classroom is a tried and tested method of organised schooling ... when planned and implemented well (it) contributed significantly to raising standards and increasing pupils’ personal, social and emotional development.”

The course is followed up by links to a variery of maths lesson ideas, using the outdoors.

 

Details

The course is collaborative and active - you will be sharing practice with colleagues and we will be heading outdoors, no matter the weather. 

The course can be delivered as a half or full day by one of our own staff or our network of LTL Accredited Professionals.
