|Description||When schools are asked to justify Pupil Premium spending they need to compare the effectiveness of the different projects they have ongoing at any time alongside their cost efficiency. Each project must be reviewed half termly and its educational outcomes compared against cost to evaluate cost efficiency and effectiveness of each project. Governors need to be actively involved and will therefore require a regular report across all projects. This course will give you the practical skills you need to identify the full cost of your support for Pupil Premium initiatives and projects, and stand you in good stead if you are required to have an independent audit of your Pupil Premium spending|

This course is suitable for all education leaders, head teachers, curriculum leaders, school business managers, governors and anyone engaged in project management of Pupil Premium provision in all sectors and phases. It is particularly beneficial for education leaders to attend with their SBM or school finance officer. The course will: consider setting outcomes measures, including suggestions for "softer" outcomes that are harder to measure and evaluate; explore preparing succinct but complete reports to governors to enable them to monitor, challenge and manage Pupil Premium funding actively, using a bespoke template to help calculate costs and cost efficiency; and provide templates, tips and techniques for developing an appropriate report to be placed on the school's website

This course is run by Larraine Cooper who works with senior and middle management to develop a range of business performance management and costing skills to support the delivery of quality services over a medium-term timeframe. She has worked with HE institutions, FE colleges, schools and local authorities. She works with schools through the NAHT financial courses and on a 1:1 consultancy basis, focusing entirely on finance and business aspects of school management serving educational outcomes by resourcing School Development Plan priorities. It would be useful for participants to bring a small and contained initiative they would like to start costing. This will be used in individual work sessions to reinforce learning and to provide an example through which to explore the templates provided to participants for their use on return to the workplace.
