For the last 7 years Simone has been the adviser with responsibility for RE in Birmingham. Simone studied Theology at Birmingham University and gained a Master in Philosophy degree before embarking on her teaching career. For ten years she was head of RE in two very different secondary schools within Birmingham which gave her wide ranging and practical experience in the delivery of quality RE. Whilst working in school she became an associate adviser for RE to the City, sharing her experience with the Agreed Syllabus Conference which produced the groundbreaking 2007 Syllabus. Currently she is working collaboratively with the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE), on designing, implementing and supporting the development of the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus with resources, schemes of work, lesson plans and CPD. Although secondary trained she has worked extensively in primary schools and trained primary colleagues.
