Learning outcomes for participants/users and, where relevant, pupils or students

Building on last year’s commitment to a flipped learning model, this year’s conference has been designed to be a logical learning process, in which the sessions build upon one another in a meaningful way. Delegates, whatever their position in school, will come away having been challenged, had learning consolidated, and with practical actions and ideas. As part of our commitment to this agenda, delegates will receive exclusive pre-reading from our world-class speakers as preparation for the conference.

Evidence underpinning this approach

The National Conference is a continuation of our campaign to redesign schooling for the twenty-first century. As part of this campaign, SSAT has published four pamphlets that have been sent to member schools as conference pre-reading. These include:

No. 1 – Why change is needed by Sue Williamson, September 2013
No. 2 – What kind of teaching for what kind of learning by Bill Lucas and Guy Claxton, October 2013
No. 3 – Principled curriculum design by Dylan Wiliam, October 2013
No. 4 – Employers and other stakeholders in the redesigned school by Peter Chambers, October 2013
