Description This course is designed to support teaching staff in delivering the computing curriculum at lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4). It will enhance their understanding of computing and will support them in developing creative approaches to engage their children. The course is aligned with the 2014 computing curriculum and for those teaching the Herts for Learning Computing Scheme, it provides an input into the six lower Key Stage 2 learning themes. The course will cover: - using safe and appropriate resources for email and blogging - exploring the use of sound editing software - developing an understanding of simulations and how they are programmed - using simple resources to develop programming skills including an introduction to Scratch and a brief review of Logo - a review of safe and effective digital searching - using spreadsheets as a tool to explore numbers and display numeric data - understanding how to keep safe and behave appropriately in online environments
