Description This course is designed to support teaching staff in delivering the computing curriculum at upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6). The course will enhance the understanding of computing and will support you to develop creative approaches to engage children. The course is aligned with the 2014 computing curriculum and for those teaching the Herts for Learning Computing Scheme, it provides an input into the six upper Key Stage 2 learning themes. The course will cover: - exploring the concept of "big data" - developing eSafe practice in the online world, including understanding how to keep safe and behave appropriately in online environments - reviewing safe and appropriate resources for blogging and the creation of wikis - developing the use of spreadsheets - building programming skills including using Scratch, Logo and Hopscotch - an overview of sound recording and editing using Audacity - exploring 3D graphical modelling using SketchUpMake
