Description This course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver a balanced spelling programme in Years 3 and 4 to meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum. The content will include: • subject knowledge • a range of teaching strategies and practical activities • how to reinforce and continue to teach Phase 5 in Key Stage 2 • how to use ongoing assessment to monitor progress and plan next steps • how to meet the new curriculum’s age-related expectations • how to ensure the teaching of spelling is taught purposefully so that learning can be applied into meaningful writing opportunities.
