Description The programme for the morning is split into three parts: 1. Research Background. We will work together to develop a clearer understanding of what 'working memory' is, how it functions, and the critical role it plays in learning and achievement. Particular reference will be made to research regarding individuals with a low working memory capacity. 2. Practical Application. We will then explore practical ways to help pupils who are underachieving, either because they have a memory deficit or are ineffective in using learning strategies, to improve their memory and capacity to learn. 3. Commercial Programmes. We will use a compare and contrast exercise to examine some of the more popular training programmes on the market.

By the end of the morning we will have covered an array of strategies that can be used in the classroom with pupils of all ages and abilities.  As always there will be a substantial number of readings and practical resources for your memory stick to take back to school. Hopefully, a practical INSET that will stay in your memory forever!
