Description | In our schools, many pupils are seriously depressed or show signs of significant distress. The levels of emotional concerns such as anxiety, phobias and eating disorders are on the increase, as are conduct disorders which show up as behavioural difficulties. Pupils who experience severe traumas, such as asylum seekers, are particularly vulnerable to mental health problems. The course provides an introduction to core support skills to use with vulnerable pupils and explains the crucial role that teachers, pastoral staff and school nurses can help play in building resilience. |
